Green IT Campus Seminar
Green IT Campus Seminar was successfully held on July 7. It attracted a full-house audience and gained overwhelming response. To assist schools in improving the efficiency of teaching and learning, we discussed how the schools select the right education management system at right time based on the concept of environmental protection and shared the successful cases during the seminar so as to co-develop a new era of green education with local schools.
The event content was very rich. Firstly, the representative of “Campus Today” made an opening speech on the event. Then, Mr. Edmund Chan, the System Engineering Manager from D-Link, was invited to introduce the innovative technology of “Green Ethernet”, and show how it apply green concept to save energy for schools. More than that, he also pointed out seven usual crises in campus network and how the schools build a 10G network infrastructure to resolve the problems.
Secondly, Mr. Rockies Ma, the Account Manager from ICT Technologies & Services Limited, presented the green concepts and unique features of VoPax Campus IP Phone System. Mr. Ma shared the successful case of HKTA Tang Hin Memorial Secondary School in deploying this system. It not only improves the efficiency of the external and internal communications, but also enhances the image of the school. Moreover, it is a scalable system which integrated various functionalities within one system under the principle of environmental protection. Mr. Ma also conducted a demonstration based on the functions of IP Phone system, which let the participants experience the simplicity of system operation.
Thirdly, the presentation of Mythware HD Recording System is also impressive. Mr. Thomas Lee, the Technical Director of ICT Technologies & Services Limited, introduced the campus applications of Live Recording System. He pointed out that teachers could use this system to record each detail part of the class (including teacher’s computer screens, close-up videos of teachers and students), and the videos can event be streamed out to other devices at the same time for other students or teachers to watch/review. We recorded the whole seminar by this system on that day, and immediately broadcasted to the product screen in the venue, so that the participants could experience the fluency of the live videos.
Finally, Mr. Ma shared how the school practices mobile learning by deploying Mythware Wireless MMLC Software. He pointed out that, it not only provides general multimedia learning functions (such as screen broadcasting, remote control, study groups, real-time tests and file submission/distribution management etc.), but also supports wireless function. In order words, if the campus has wireless network, student and teachers can enjoy mobile learning at any time in outdoor environment by carrying only a notebook with WiFi. It greatly enhances learning mobility and learning interests. During the seminar, we also set up the Wireless MMLC software to demonstrate to the audience and event passed the notebooks (which built-in the software) to them for trial.
The seminar was very successful on that day. The audience showed their deep interests in our solutions and demonstration. Many teachers even make inquiries of us about the related solutions instantly. We hope the same kind of seminars would be held again in the future so that schools can exchange and discuss the experiences of IT solution in education and bring the potential of IT in full play.
Note: We used the Live Recording S system to record the whole seminar and made it as a HD DVD distributing to the teachers for a review in the future. If you have not registered for the DVD, please feel free to contact our staff at 2460 1862.
Various IT Products for education field were showed during the seminar.
